PHILIPPOUSSIS Mark $1.42

Oli 5'5" Vs the Scud 6'4"
Should make for an interesting battle.

I didn't see Van Den Hoogenband either but 1:46.00 is damn good in a semi-final and his swim in the relay was nothing short of amazing! 46.79 secs!!! Even given the advantage of about .6 secs for a relay start, that still equates to a time that would have smashed his own 100m world record. He'll definitely be out in front tonight. It's just a matter of whether Thorpe, or even Phelps or Hackett can get him down. I don't think Hackett can win, so it's between the other three.

Thought THORPE had PHELPS measure cruising to the line and i know vanhoogenband will lead, but he needs a decent lead to hold on, think the 200m is thorpes best dist now,not the 400m, i'm discounting the relay swim as thorpe was well back and the 100m isnt his best swim.

When I looked at the relay splits from last night I was amazed at the first leg from the USA. Basically, Ian Crocker had a 'Barry Crocker'. 50.05 secs compared to Schoeman from South Africa 48.17. That gap was way too much to make up.

Yeah, I agree. I'm worried about the 200 too. I reckon he's going to be a fair way in front at the 100 and I'm just not confident that Thorpe's form is good enough to wear him down. I really hope you're right though Goldmember.

Also worried about Liesel Jones. She IS the fastest swimmer in the race, but she has a habit of disappointing in big finals. Hope she puts it all together tonight.
