Default Betfair vs Tab for Odds On Prices

This is a question someone who collects Betfair prices and has knowledge of their comparison to Tab prices. I am testing a lay theory for odds on horses and need to know what the approximate betfair prices might be compared to the Tab. I have been working on the theory that betfair will be 10% better in this price range but a more accurate figure would be good if anyone can help.

Cheers,

Mat.

The answer is it depends on each selection. I wouldn't use an average becasue its likely to be wrong.

Overall for all tatts odds on

Tatts average price : $1.67
Betfair Average price : $1.80

For winners:
Tatts average price :$1.65
Betfair Average price : 1.76

Commission is already factored in.

Thats the problem though UB, I don't have each selection hence the question. I do know that the lower the price generally the closer it is to tab so I will just go with 10% and see how it fairs in the real world. Thanks for the info.

Moving closer/closest to parity for <$1.50 shots at or just before jump then...

Interesting.

Just keep in mind your more worried about winners prices then overall. hence its slightly lower at only 6%. Thats still lower then your 10%.

Good point mate, hopefully 10% should be enough of a buffer.

Are you laying or backing ? As the prices I providedd were for backing.

Its a different set of prices for laying probably about 3-4c higher and you would need to do commission differently.

All runners:

Tatts average price : $1.67
Betfair Average price : $1.87 (12% higher)

For winners:
Tatts average price :$1.65
Betfair Average price : 1.83 (11% higher)

The largeincrease is removal of commission (5%-6.5%) and moving from the bet side of the screen to the lay side of the screen.

So whn you look at these figures your 10% is not a good estimate. You need to take at least 12% and the above fiogures do not include commission. You need to work out commission for your betting technique as its a lot harder to work it out laying but I believe it would add at least another few cents.
