Staking Plan for stable:

Back for 3 runs once selections hits ideal or winnable racing distance.

Recovery staking plan with the divisor being the odds of the horse on the day.

e.g. Lose the first run at ideal distance, at 2nd run it's odds are 3/1, divisor = 3.

Stop if horse hasn't won after 3 runs in prep.

See how we go.

I would put Atlantic Jewel in Champion status.

Hi Uselessbettor,

I'd like to see her come back in the Autumn after her injury in the Spring. My personal opinion is that to be a champion you need to back up G1 performances over a few seasons.

I don't for a second question her awesomeness.

Probably should throw Karuta Queen in the 'best of the rest' category.

I guess it's personal to how or which you decide.

Atlantic Jewel catches the eye for sure, but she's only raced against 3yo fillies, won a Group 2 and a Group 1 with those restrictions.
I put her in the up and comer one to watch category, but certainly can't have her as contender yet.

Line that up against Sepoy who has won 2 x G1's as a 2yo and come back and won 2 x G1's as a 3yo including a Manikato and a Slipper.

I put em both on the watchlist, but can't have them as champions yet.

But then it depends on your perspective, looking out for the up and comers might be a more profitable avenue.
I like to reduce the risk somewhat.

I doubt if we will see much of Sepoy past this year as he will be off overseas to get the stud value up which just as with So You Think, will be a real shame.

It will be interesting to how the new purhcase of Mawingo goes this year in the Melbourne Cup. Has to be an early market place special. rumours are it was three times the price of Lucas Cranach and who knows how it would have gone without hoof problems.

Minus the last campaign, you couldn't overlook More Joyous, and the poor old Hay List. Best 2nd placed spirter in Oz. BC, Haylist, Frankel and maybe Rocket Man, but after last run its a pretender.

Hi Vortech,

I had More Joyous pencilled in but left her out in the end. She's probably got one more big win in her, however I'm not sure she'll be consistent judging on last prep as you say.

Another worth mentioning is Beaded. 95% place strike rate. Super. 6yo mare who hasn't raced since June last year.
